Microsoft has partnered with a Swedish company specialized in sustainable metals extraction and production, to make mining more sustainable with cloud infrastructure, IoT sensors, edge computing, and AI-powered computer vision. This sophisticated suite of data gathering, data sharing and data analytic tools provides automated, round-the-clock monitoring and insights for mines, wells, dams and other structures. That allows site managers to better assess stability, prevent accidents, and limit environmental impacts. This data and analysis are also driving new operational insights to inform long-term strategies for safer, more productive, and truly sustainable mining.
