Atlanta BeltLine

The Atlanta BeltLine, conceived in 2006, comprises 22 miles (35 kilometres) of multi-use trails on a former railway corridor that encircles the core of the city. It aims to connect the adjacent 45 neighbourhoods, improve public health, implement a light rail system, preserve and create affordable housing, and showcase arts and culture. The project has made substantial progress, with more than half of the mainline and spur trails complete. Since the passage of a transit sales tax in 2016, a survey study for the proposed light rail transit system is underway, but it is unclear when it will be fully funded and built.
