LinkNYC is a public-private collaboration in New York City that aims to replace the city’s antiquated network of payphones with smart kiosks that enable high-speed Wi-Fi, phone calls and other city services at no upfront cost to the public or taxpayers. It is financed through advertising on digital displays at the kiosks and other auxiliary services, with a revenue-sharing agreement between the city and the privatesector partnership that was selected to develop what became LinkNYC.

LinkNYC demonstrates how leveraging public assets and city spaces in new innovative ways can create business opportunities for the private sector, create value for residents at no cost to taxpayers and provide new revenue streams for city budgets.
