## How we drive impact

### Advancing new insights and shaping agendas

We deepen understanding in the energy and material ecosystem, unveil fresh insights, and foster a global discourse that spans policy frameworks and business strategies.

### Fostering awareness and collaboration

We build multistakeholder communities that extend from the global stage to specific countries and companies, and that create synergies driving progress.

### Driving collective action

We design programmes and collaborations that serve as catalysts for action and transformation. Our initiatives focus on fostering shared commitments leading to meaningful systemic change.

## Industrial Clusters: Unlocking the Potential for Collaboration

[Learn more](https://initiatives.weforum.org/transitioning-industrial-clusters/community)

### The Challenge

The industrial sector is today responsible for 30% of global CO2 emissions. A complex, variable strategy must be developed to ensure communities, policymakers and broader economies are ready for rapid, sustainable clean resource adoption.

### Our Approach

Our Transitioning Industrial Clusters initiative improves collaboration and shared action across co-located companies and governments to drive economic growth, protect jobs, and reduce Co2e emissions. Our approach involves convening industrial stakeholders at various stages of ambition development within a neutral forum to collaboratively shape strategies and share valuable insights.

### Our Impact

By fostering collaboration among industrial clusters, the Forum has directly supported co-located companies in creating a governance framework, aligning on an energy transition roadmap and securing funding. This has resulted in long-term benefits for the environment, economy, and society. To date, the Forum has onboarded 40 industrial clusters, across 21 countries, which have collectively contributed $866 billion in GDP, created and protected 7.2 million jobs, and avoided 870 million tonnes of CO2e GHG emissions.

### The Challenge

The global energy transition is one of the most urgent and complex challenges of our time. Energy systems must rapidly evolve to meet rising demand while reducing emissions and navigating geopolitical, economic, and technological uncertainties. Achieving this requires deep collaboration, trusted insights, and a clear understanding of both local and global contexts.

### Our Approach

Our Energy and Industry Transition Intelligence initiative equips decision-makers with the robust data, trend analysis, and tools needed to shape resilient and inclusive energy systems. We analyze system readiness, spotlight scalable innovations, and convene leaders from business, government, and civil society to address critical gaps, and opportunities in transitioning energy and industrial systems.

### Our Impact

The Energy Transition Index (ETI) is widely used by governments and regional institutions to shape energy transition strategies. In the past two years it has been presented to government agencies in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United States, and Colombia, following direct consultation requests. The ETI also supports regional collaboration, including an ongoing Energy Transition Regional Assessment for Latin America and the Caribbean, done in collaboration with OLADE.It is also regularly featured at global convenings such as the Forum’s Annual Meeting and Annual Meeting of the New Champions, reinforcing its role as a trusted reference for decision-makers.

## Unlocking a Clean Energy Future in Emerging Markets

[Learn more](https://www.weforum.org/impact/clean-energy-in-emerging-markets/)

### The Challenge

Current levels of investment in cleaner energy systems in the developing world remain largely insufficient today. By 2030, annual renewable energy investment in emerging countries needs to be multiplied by more than 7 – from less than $150 billion to over $1 trillion – to put the world on track to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

### Our Approach

Our Mobilizing Investment for Clean Energy in Emerging Economies initiative helped unlock clean energy finance in emerging economies. We identified policy and financial enablers for clean energy investments in Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, South Africa. We have also incubated several innovative global investment de-risking mechanisms. Our Global Network of Ministers and CEOs offers a unique space for nations to exchange best practices to attract clean energy finance.

### Our Impact

By identifying barriers to clean energy investment and surfacing solutions to overcome them, the Forum has directly supported the transition to cleaner energy systems across Latin America, Africa and ASEAN.Our work has helped unlock capital flows into clean energy projects, contributing to fostering energy access and sustainable growth, creating jobs, and improving energy access for 2.3 billion people.
